KJG was selected to assist the West Lafayette Community School Corporation in the planning, preparation, and coordination of several large building projects that will help the district support their growing community. KJG’s Architectural and Engineering Services for WLCSC included Feasibility Studies, Building Assessments, and inventory, as well as Master Planning in coordination with the WLCSC School Corporation. West Lafayette’s Junior/Senior High School was selected as one of several major renovation projects in the West Lafayette Community School Corporation’s continued partnership with KJG Architecture. Our team was tasked with designing a series of new additions that will provide additional classrooms and learning spaces to support the current student capacity. In coordination with West Lafayette Community School Corporation and the faculty, the school is proposed to construct: the Richard Wachs Aquatic Center addition to support the hosting of future swimming and diving competitions as well as community outreach events; the James Guy Education Wing to support the addition of updated media center, learning environments, science labs, and classrooms; the Bob Kelly Center for Performing Arts, which is expected to receive sound, lighting, and upgrades to public accessibility that will provide additional performance and learning opportunities for students as well as visitors to the facility. The proposed additions and renovations are expected to happen over a large portion of the existing Junior/Senior High School facility. During construction, the current facility is expected to stay open for students and faculty, requiring additional coordination and oversight. KJG’s role throughout the project has been to lead the design and planning for the facility additions and renovations, including not only the architecture but also structural engineering and interior design services.
